I’m Tim, owner and manager of Zenon Records and the producer behind Sensient. I founded Zenon Records in 2003 with a clear vision: to release cutting-edge psychedelic electronic music for the dance-floor and beyond, with no compromise given to commercial considerations.
Honestly, I can’t remember exactly when my relationship with Modem began, maybe Zenon was there from the very first one, or at least close to it. I remember playing on the ‘Swamp Stage’ back in those early days and the stage was literally just a marquee tent with speakers inside! It’s wild to think about how far it’s come since then.
Zenon and I have been part of Modem since the early days, and our relationship has always been deeply symbiotic. We’ve grown together, Modem has shaped its identity by championing our artists year after year, while Zenon has flourished through the platform and recognition they’ve given us. It’s been a beautiful, intertwined evolution.
Modem is one of the rare places where I feel completely free to experiment and push the outer boundaries of the Zenon sound. I have total confidence that the dance-floor will come with me on that journey, fully locked in and deeply appreciative. This creative freedom has been instrumental in refining both my own sound and Zenon’s identity over the years. I count it as one of my ‘home’ dance-floors, there are only a handful of those around the world.
I see Modem’s future as incredibly healthy. It’s becoming a hub for genre crossover, bringing in sounds from labels like Hypnus Records and this cross-pollination expands the festival’s reach, introducing both Modem and our artists to audiences who might never have discovered us otherwise.
Modem has become one of the world’s premier psychedelic festivals. They’ve shown incredible support for Zenon, consistently showcasing our artists and giving them a platform to shine. When the Zenon crew comes together at Modem, it’s like our annual family reunion. Those moments are filled with so much love and connection!
